Munster Rugby and Adidas are one of the more familiar and enduring partnerships of team and supplier that we’ve seen in the last few years, but with Leinster joining the men from Thomond Park in the Adidas stable this year, the pressure is on – after all, they don’t want their Dublin rivals showing them up now, do they?

As Munster work in a two-year cycle for their home jersey, so last year’s all-red design is being kept for 2018/19, so what we have instead is a new Euro shirt, and this away jersey.

As with all Adidas shirts, there’s a bit of a story attached to the striking light blue jersey here, and the colour is very much part of that.

The shirt is inspired by the stunningly picturesque landscape of the Cliffs of Moher in the County Clare region – the pattern on the front of the shirt is inspired by the layered foundations of those cliffs.

The colour of the shirt is also symbolic, reflecting the bright blue colour of copper ore that was mined in Munster over 400 years ago.

All in all, this is a cool and unique jersey design for Munster – it might not be quite as striking as the new Leinster shirts, but its a bit different, has some cool design flourishes, and certainly looks the part.
