Union Argentina de Rugby have revealed a brand new special edition shirt that the Argentina 7s team will wear at this weekend’s Rugby World Cup 7s in San Francisco, and it’s another striking and memorable design from Nike.
Los Pumas have had some really striking Sevens designs since they signed up with Nike seven years ago, but this special edition jersey really is something special.
Instead of the classic blue and white hoops, we instead have a jersey that blends dark blue and striking yellow – the fade between the blue body and bright yellow top is suitably dramatic, and serves to highlight the fascinating topographic sublimated pattern that covers the front of the design.
The choice of colours isn’t totally random, however – the theme of the shirt is ‘Of the sun born’, which is written in Spanish inside the hem of the design.
The yellow is designed to represent the sun in the centre of the Argentine flag, and also the bright, sunny, action-packed nature of rugby sevens.
The Pumas will wear their new special edition jersey for the first time at the Rugby World Cup Sevens at AT&T Park in San Francisco this weekend, it’s unknown at this time whether they’ll wear it beyond the tournament – but we hope they do!
