The Scarlets have revealed their all new 2018/19 Macron away kit, which represents a striking, divisive and very different tack for the region’s away jerseys…
The new blue, white and gold shirt is part of the region’s new ‘Three Counties, Three Years’ strategy – an initiative that’s designed to better engage with the wider region outside of the Scarlets’ traditional Llanelli heartland, and build relationships with the community in the counties of Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.
Year one’s focus is on Ceredigion, and as such the shirt was revealed in Aberystwyth – it features a striking ‘wave’ motif on the back to emphasise the region’s connection to the sea and coast, while the front of the shirt features a variety of symbols relating to the various counties. These include Arms of Gwaithfoed, a medieval prince of Ceredigion, seahorses, dragons and eagles.
The new Scarlets away shirt is available for preorder now – keep an eye on RSW for our review soon, and in the mean time check out all the new 2018/19 Pro14 jerseys here.
I think the biggest disappointment about this jersey is the imagery at the bottom. Seriously, did no one at the teams marketing or sales department realize and/or point out that that is valuable ad space they could have sold?
When I first saw I thought is was awful but it has started growing on me
