Another month, another load of stunning kit and apparel that has set the rugby world (and our hearts) aflame. From stunning leftfield kit designs to modern twists on classic icons, here’s your best rugby drip from September 2022.
Racing 92 away kit collection
Racing’s polarising 2022 away shirt appeared at the end of August but we couldn’t let it go unremarked because it might be the most opinion-splitting kit of 2022. Based on some artwork on the Metro station near Racing’s La Defense Arena, we think it’s bonkers and brilliant, and the accompanying tee and hoodie might be the coolest rugby stash of the year.
Stade Français change kits
God these are good. Stade are so much better when they ditch the flowers and remember the pink lightning bolts in our opinion, and while the pink 16-bit Eiffel Tower of the home kit is great, these are something else entirely. The 90s-vibed blue away feels like a modern classic, while the third, with its abstract bolt side panels and hatched bolt body, is a tour de force.
Scarlets 150th Anniversary kit
Scarlets fans were understandably miffed at how crap Castore’s first home kit was for them, especially in the 150th season of rugby in Llanelli, but this anniversary kit – which will be worn for select fixtures this season – is much more like it, with pinstripes, a proper collar and the badges of the Scarlets regional ancestor Llanelli RFC on the bottom left.
Vodacom Bulls 2022/23 kits
It’s fair to say that the South African teams haven’t brought a huge amount of drip to the URC in terms of fashion so far, but these Bulls kits might change that – the pink and blue pop so well and the pattern sublimated into it is really cool.
Munster 2022/24 European kit
Munster’s biannual Euro kit refresh is always an interesting one, and this year is no exception, with the 2008-esque blue shoulders paired with an interesting interlocking geometric pattern on the body.
Wales 2022/23 leisure and training kit
Wales’ Macron tenure hasn’t had much to recommend it style-wise, but the pale grey 2022/23 training and leisure kit pops, particularly the all-weather hoodie modelled by Dan Biggar above.
Uganda RWC7s kit
There were some stunning kits on show at the RWC7s this year, as you’d expect – but none captured our hearts in the way this Uganda stash did. It’s mean, it’s cool, it’s a little different to what we’re used to seeing, and best of all, Samurai promises us that the stash will soon be available to buy.
