The Coolest New Rugby Shirts This Month: August 2022

The new Premiership, URC and Top 14 seasons are just around the corner and that means that August is jam-packed with interesting new rugby kit and apparel releases – here are the drippiest new threads we’ve seen around the rugby world this month so far:

Toulouse 2022/23 Home Shirt

Every year, without fail, Toulouse have the best kits in rugby union. This year is no exception, as the five-time European champs throw things back to their 1996/97 jersey for a touch of inspiration on this one.

Bristol Bears 2022/23 European Shirt

Every year the Bears seem to top themselves but this festival-inspired Euro shirt – complete with rainbow coloured Bear-centric grafitti all over the body – smashes it out of the park.

Saracens 2022/23 Home Shirt

If Sarries first Castore kit was a little understated, this 2022/23 version feels much more confident and interesting. We love the bold, modern sublimation across the front of the body, and the angular V-shaped collar feels confident and suitably ‘rugby’ while also not like anything else out there.

Toulon 2022/23 Home Shirt

In case you haven’t heard, the 90s are back baby, and this tribute to Toulon’s 1993 jersey is wonderfully weird and retro from Nike. We’re not sure it entirely works, but we cannot help but stan it for feeling completely unlike anything else on the field this year.

Northampton Saints 2022/23 home shirt

Last season Saints harked back to 2009 with the large bold gold bands on the front of a primarily green jersey, and this season they’ve shrunk them down a little to create a shirt that actually might be even nicer? Big early 2000s Guinness Premiership vibes.

England 2022/23 leisure collection

Sometimes you want to keep things clean and understated, and we love England’s new off-field range for this. The patch containing the Umbro diamonds and the Red Rose is such a nice touch, and makes the whole range feel a lot more upmarket than usual training stash. More of this please Umbro!

Union Bordeaux Begles 2022/23 home shirt

No matter what the season or what the kit supplier, Bordeaux Begles just seem to have that knack for a stunning kit every year. This year is a wonderfully subtle affair, with the classic maroon jersey accented by a tonal chevron and subtle sleeve accents.

Harlequins 2022/23 away shirt

If we were a little underwhelmed with Castore’s very safe and classic debut Quins home shirt, we’ve no such concerns with the away. The blue, grey and white design puts a modernist twist on a classic harlequin diamon patter – ice cold!

Scotland 2022/23 Home Shirt

Scotland have spent too much time flirting with purple in recent years, as this stunning new shirt emphasises – the low-profile classic collar is absolutely pitch perfect, the sky blue accents on the collar and cuffs are delightful, and even the thistle pattern is inoffensive!
