Gallagher Premiership Rugby 2021/22 jersey overview – every new kit revealed so far

With the 2020/21 season finally coming to an end and bringing to a halt over a full calendar year of non-stop Northern Hemisphere rugby, fans have time to pause, to reflect, and of course the most important thing – to get excited about next season’s kits.

With the 21/22 Premiership Rugby season just over a month away, several clubs have already revealed their jerseys for the upcoming campaign, below you’ll find details of everything launched so far, plus any hints or information about those yet to come.*

Bath Rugby

Bath left it VERY late to reveal their 2021/22 kits for the season, not launching them until the eve of their first fixture, but here they are. No change for the home, and a welcome replacement of last season’s horrible away kit with something a lot more classy.

Bristol Bears 2021/22 Jerseys

Since rebranding as the Bears, Bristol have not been afraid to push the boat out with their jerseys, and this season is no different. The home shirt is another bold, messy pattern of red and blue, while the away shirt features another isometric impressionistic bear, this time with splashes of orange thrown into the mix. Very cool.

Gloucester Rugby 2021/22 Jerseys

The Westcountry club have gone super-traditional for their 2021/22 design, with the classic white and red hoops paired with a black collar and shorts from teamwear brand Oxen.

The pattern on the hoops themselves is a nod to the chevrons on the City of Gloucester coat of arms, while new sponsor Bigdug replaces Mitsubishi on the front of the design. The away kit is a very nice shade of blue.

Harlequins 2021/22 Jerseys

The 2020/21 Premiership champs will defend their title with their first new home shirt in two years. The new design is a modern twist on the iconic Quins look, with the classic quarters restored to their full glory, while the old-school striped black and green sleeves make a comeback for the first time in many a season.

Leicester Tigers 2021/22 Jerseys

Two very interesting looks from Samurai for the Tigers in 2021. The home shirt features white pinstriped hoops on a classic green jersey, with an asymmetrical red partial hooped right side, complete with red sleeve. It’s an interesting take on the formula for sure.

The change shirt is even more interesting, with a white and black design accented by a tiger motif on the body, and orange and white tiger stripes over the shoulders.

London Irish

Irish have opted not to change the basic design of their 2020/21 kit for this season, instead updating it with a few new sponsor logos here and there – it’s fine.

Newcastle Falcons

Name a Newcastle Falcons player that isn’t Mark Wilson, go on… no, not Toby Flood he’s just retired, try again. Adam Radwan, there you go, well done. Newcastle are basically an unlicensed Rugby Challenge 3 team or a game of Guess Who where everyone is 6’3 and 17 stone – genuinely very good, but entirely unmemorable. These jerseys are basically that.

Northampton Saints 2021/22 Jerseys

During last year’s lockdown, Northampton held a ‘King Of The Kits’ competition on social media, where Saints fans were asked to vote for their favourite home shirt ever. The winner of that competition was the 2008/9 home shirt, in which the club won the 2009 Challenge Cup. The 2021/22 home design is an overt tribute to that Rhino shirt, with a few tweaks to streamline it for a more modern style.

The away shirt, on the other hand, is a tribute to those fans who agreed to donate the balance of their outstanding 2019/20 season tickets when the pandemic meant these matches could not be held with spectators present. The names of these fans are printed in green, grey and tellow across the whole of the white design.

Sale Sharks 2021/22 Jerseys

Sale have moved to Macron after eight years with Samurai and the Italian brand’s first jerseys with the club are… well, they’re a bit of a mess. The home shirt is a nod to the 15th anniversary of Sale’s only Premiership team, hence the return of light blue and the contrast between the dark and light shades between body and sleeves, while the away is er… urban camo?

Saracens 2021/22 Jerseys

Perhaps the most interesting kit partnership of the new season, Saracens will return to the Premiership after ditching Nike for up and coming high-end apparel brand Castore. However it’s not exactly been a smooth roll-out of the new jerseys.

The club has yet to officially launch their 2021 kits, but the men’s team wore the new home shirt in their first preseason game, while the women’s team wore the away to kick off the Premier 15s season. The home has an interesting waist-high V on the front, while the away is red with a striking white stripe down the front.

Wasps 2021/22 Jerseys

If Sarries and Castore is the most interesting new kit partner then Wasps’ new deal with Danish brand Hummel is a close second. The first kit features some classic Hummel chevrons on the sleeves, but with an interesting honeycomb graphic on the front, while the new and more streamlined crest looks very smart.

Worcester Warriors 2021/22 jerseys

Worcester are in their second season with Irish brand O’Neills, and things have definitely gone in a more modern and understated direction for 2021 with the home shirt – the blue on blue smokey pattern feels a lot more interesting than most of the club’s recent jerseys.
