The new jersey is a mix of pink – celebrating the wahine who both play and support rugby – and black in tribute to all the players from the region who have represented the Black Ferns at any level.
Meanwhile the striking arrow patterns on the jersey represent ‘always moving forward, both on the rugby field and in the promotion of females both playing and supporting rugby.’
And while the choice of pink is a tediously obvious colour for a jersey celebrating women, it does at least have the slight justification of tying in to the Chiefs’ training jerseys for this season, which features a striking pink and black motif on the front.
The Chiefs Women In Rugby jersey is available for preorder now, and will be worn for the forthcoming game against the Bulls on 4 April.
