London Irish have revealed the one-off jersey that the club will be wearing for their annual St Patrick’s Day party game, this year against Northampton Saints on 28 March. This year however, the jersey has been designed by a fan.
The fan in question, Jéan-Luc Pienaar from Stellenbosch, South Africa, designed a jersey that takes the tradition of shamrocks on London Irish St Patrick’s Day jerseys, but giving it a striking and modern take with the help of the club’s kit supplier, BLK Sport.
“We were delighted with the number of entrants we had for this competition and the high standard of design work received,” said London Irish CEO, Brian Facer. “It was great to get the supporters involved in designing the shirt for our final St Patrick’s Party match in Reading, and the squad players are delighted with the outcome.
“Congratulations to Jéan-Luc on his winning design. We will be presenting him with a signed St Patrick’s Party jersey to celebrate his achievement.”
