Leinster Rugby have launched their brand new European and away shirts that the four time Champions Cup winners will wear throughout their 2018/19 European and Pro14 campaigns respectively.
The European shirt replaces last season’s darker blue design in favour of one that’s a more traditional Leinster blue.
The pattern sublimated onto the design is a bold, modern design, with splashes of light blue peppering the jersey. This pattern, apparently, takes inspiration from “meteorites that fell from the sky and were used by the Laighin people to create their iron spear”.
Sure.
Anyway, the shirt itself sports the same rounded collar design we first saw on the new Munster jerseys revealed last month.
The away shirt, which will be worn in both the Pro14 and European Cup, is another break from the norm after last season’s olive drab design.
This year we have a purple base shirt with dark blue pinstripes running across the body of the design.
It’s certainly more ‘classic’ than last season’s design in basic formula, but the purple is certainly out of the ordinary.
