The Cell C Sharks have revealed the home and away jerseys that the Natal-based franchise will wear throughout their Super Rugby campaign.
The home shirt is broadly the same as last season’s design, complete with the Durban City Hall graphic on the front, but this time with orange trim to coordinate with Cell C’s logo change.
The away shirt is new, however – it’s a white jersey with superhero-style ‘muscle’ pattern on it (perhaps a nod to the forthcoming Sharks Black Panther design?), and as the ‘Beast #144’ slogan on the back of the shirt indicates, pays tribute to Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira.
Beast is the Sharks’ record Super Rugby cap holder and has been Springbok stalwart for a decade, but paying tribute to a player on a jersey rather indicates that this will be his final season in Durban.
