Harlequins have revealed their brand new Big Game 11 charity jersey from Adidas, which they’re claiming features industry-first technology never before used in a sports jersey.

The shirt – rather ridiculously dubbed ‘Quintessential Flash’ – is primarily black as usual for Big Game shirts, but this time all of the graphics on the shirt are ‘designed to come alive thanks to in-built flash technology’.

What this means in practice, is that the graphics, sponsor logos, club crest and everything else non-black on the design is made of the sort of reflective foil you usually see in running and cycling apparel.

As you can see from the video above, the idea here is that when the material catches in the bright light of a photographer’s flash or similar, the jersey will light up with a rainbow of colours designed to both reflect the neon London skyline, and the multiple colours of a traditional Quins jersey.

Keep an eye on Rugby Shirt Watch for our full review of the new Quins Charity jersey soon, and check out all the new Aviva Premiership 2018/19 jerseys in our round-up here.
