The Welsh Rugby Union have revealed their brand new Wales Sevens jersey that the team will wear for the 2017/18 World Rugby Sevens Series, starting with next week’s opening round in Dubai.
The new shirt is another striking, conceptual design, which builds on the 2015/17 design with its myriad brush strokes, and gone for a stylised dragon scale motif that covers the body and shoulders of the shirt.
“The dragon plays a significant part in Welsh identity, so the prominence of the dragon-scale pattern on our kit is very pleasing,” said Wales Sevens coach Gareth Williams. “The symbolism is particularly powerful for us because we’ve been cultivating a feeling of Welshness in the squad for a while now; learning about our nation’s heritage and the Welsh language in order to strengthen our bond as a team.”
