Penrith Panthers have announced a new three-year sponsorship deal with Australian rugby league specialists, Classic Sportswear. The deal will see the Panthers take over from Japanese manufacturer, ASICS. Classic have a storied history in rugby league, but haven’t had much presence in the NRL of late – they took on the Gold Coast Titans contract last year, however, and the Panthers become the brand’s second team in the top flight. They also produce the New South Wales State Of Origin gear, and the Brumbies in Super Rugby.
The deal with Classic marks something of an auspicious return for the Panthers – they wore the brand’s jerseys when the club last captured the Premiership title in 2003.
