Sale Sharks have revealed a striking one-off charity jersey that the club will raise funds and awareness for Manchester-based children’s charity, Once Upon A Smile. The new shirt follows the same basic pattern as the current Sharks home shirt, but is a eye-catching shade of bright orange that Once Upon A Smile, a charity that provides emotional and practical support to bereaved families at their time of need, uses in its branding.
The club will wear the shirt for their forthcoming Anglo-Welsh cup encounter with Saracens on 10 November, and a limited number of replicas of the shirt will be available to the public, with a proportion of the profits donated to Once Upon A Smile, as will a proportion of the matchday tickets.
Speaking at the launch of the jersey, former Sale great and current Commercial Director at Sale said, “It will be great to see our boys running out in Once Upon a Smile’s colours. They do fantastic work in the community and I know the team will be wearing their shirt with more pride than ever come November 10. We are very grateful to our sponsors for their support of this initiative, and it’s great to work together in aid of such a worthwhile cause.”
