Irish Rugby have revealed the first ever bespoke Sevens jersey for the Irish men’s and women’s teams, designed by IRFU kit supplier, Canterbury of New Zealand. Ireland have been gradually building their presence on the Sevens circuit in recent years – the men’s team will seek to qualify for the World Sevens Series in the Hong Kong repechage tournament next March, while the women have been a fixture on the Women’s Sevens Series for three seasons.
As well as the brand new jersey, the IRFU also announced a new retail partnership and sponsorship deal with Irish sports retailer Intersport Elverys. The deal will see the Intersport Elverys logo featured on both sevens teams jerseys for the next three seasons, and also become the official sports retailer to the IRFU.
Patrick Rowland, Intersport Elverys CEO said at the launch, ““Our sponsorship with the Ireland 7s teams was a huge opportunity for us to get involved in rugby at another level and create a strong partnership with the national organisation. We have been involved with Connacht Rugby for a number of years so it seemed fitting that we get involved with our national sevens teams especially since Men’s and Women’s 7s rugby continues to grow at an enormous rate both internationally and nationally.”
