The Dragons have revealed their brand new 2017/18 home shirts, the first produced under the recent rebrand following the region’s takeover by the WRU.
The new home and away shirts, which are once again produced by Gilbert, both use an ‘ascending chevron’ motif on the bottom half of the shirts – the home being traditional black with red chevrons, while the away shirt is red with amber.
The away shirt in particular is a change from recent seasons – for the last few years Dragons’ change shirts have been blue and white, the colours of the old Kingdom of Gwent.
In addition, the new shirts are also the first Dragons designs to sport the brand new Dragons crest, and the shortened team name, which has dropped the old ‘Newport Gwent’ bit.

They are the worst kits I’ve ever seen. They make Gavin Henson’s McFly haircut look semi fashionable.
True, should have taken the opportunity to do a complete relaunch and call them the steelers.
New start, new name, moves away from the old Newport issues.
I liked the idea of using the Gwent colours of Royal, black and gold in various ways for kits.
Completely agree! Need something to differentiate the team. The black, red and gold means nothing to the region.
A great opportunity to relaunch and they give us more of the old.
The worst rebrand since the end of marathon bars.
I just hate my team being branded by someone who seems to know nothing about Welsh rugby heritage. Has to be an Aussie thinking of super rugby
I think I need a cup of tea, it’s only a shirt….
