Ahead of the 2017/18 season Bath Rugby have revealed a the jerseys that the club will be wearing this year – their gorgeous home shirt is happily sticking around for another go around, which is no bad thing at all, so here we’ll be examining the new away and European designs. The away shirt replaces the polarising heathered grey design of last season, and it’s a shirt that we’re imagining not many people could be in any way offended by.

It’s white and er… well, that’s about it really! Canterbury has long enjoyed using a clean and simple design, but even by their standards this one keeps things minimal.

There’s no sublimation, no tonal bits and bobs, just the cleanest, whitest shirt that you’ve ever damn seen – and that’s no bad thing.

It’s not the easiest shirt in the world to review, however… because well, we honestly can’t say we have a whole lot to talk about here, but the clean nature of the jersey does give us a chance to talk about the addition of the new double loop collar, and Canterbury’s latest Vapodri, Vaposhield and Thermoreg technology, and er…

Okay, we give up – it’s a plain white jersey. A perfectly nice one, and one that we’re sure plenty of Bath fans will enjoy, but it’s not exactly going to win any awards here.

The new European shirt on the other hand, well… that’s a different matter altogether. Continuing the trend of the last two seasons by having a black jersey with gold accents.

This year however, they’ve sensibly kept the gold to the strengthening tape on the collar, the CCC logo, and the all important European Cup winning star, of course.

Interestingly, however, they’ve opted to centralise the logo and badge, which is once again the 3D injection moulded type – Bath remain the only club to have used this absolutely fantastic device on their Canterbury jerseys.

It’s all for a very good reason of course, as the primary feature of the shirt is a lovely thick blue-to-white fade band that runs across the chest to contain the club crest.

Centralising everything helps to give this feature greater emphasis and also makes this shirt feel rather different to the other Canterbury shirts this season – we think it looks great.

These are a pair of very nice shirts, though one is substantially more interesting than the other we have to say. They both continue the theme of Canterbury embracing the classic heritage of Bath Rugby, and putting a clean modern spin on it.
