The SARU has revealed their much anticipated new alternate jersey, which is a striking and unconventional red colour.
The new shirt, which is once again made by ASICS South Africa, is a real break from tradition, eschewing the traditional alternate colours of gold or white in favour of this bright, almost neon shade.
The purpose of the new jersey is to mark ’25 years of unity’ of the Rainbow Nation, and so the alternate and training jerseys combine with the classic home shirt colour of dark green to reflect the four main colours of the South African flag.
The new shirt will be worn for the first time against Argentina in The Rugby Championship, and will also be worn against Ireland in Dublin, in a break from tradition with test convention.
