Following on from the release of their 2017/18 away shirt last week, Munster and Adidas have revealed the brand new home shirt that the 2017 Pro 12 finalists will be wearing next season.
The new shirt is of course a classic red design, but instead of the traditional blue secondary colour, a deeper shade of red provides contrast on the jersey and is also the colour of the shorts.
The body of the jersey features an inventive modern pattern that expands out to just below the club badges, which Adidas says is an antler tapestry, which is a tribute to the stag on the Munster crest, and symbolises bravery, determination and fearsome territorialism.
As with the away shirt, Munster’s Latin motto, ‘forte fideli nihil difficil’ (to the brave and faithful nothing is impossible) adorns the cuffs of both sleeves, while this, and all the badges and logos are rendered in a copper colour that is a nod to Munster’s copper mining history.
In addition to the new home shirt, Munster and Adidas have also launched a brand new training range, which features an ordinance survey map of the feeder townlands of the Munster province.
Speaking at the new gear’s launch, Munster head of commercial and marketing, Enda Lynch was keen to stress the heritage of the new range.
“As we return to an all-red home kit, Adidas have once again led the way in design and innovation in marking the province’s heritage through the inclusion of the club’s motto and nod to the stag, while also referencing our community ties with the map feature across the training range,” he said.
The new Munster 2017/18 home kit and training range Adidas is available for preorder now.
