USA Rugby has announced a new multi-year partnership with Adidas rugby to supply kit to its representative teams, including men’s and women’s 15s and 7s, plus the USA Falcons and All American age grade sides.

The deal sees the German sportswear giant replace troubled Australian firm BLK after three years, and the Eagles join New Zealand, France and Italy as part of Adidas’s international rugby stable.

This is something of a return for Adidas and the USA – the two previously partnered on Eagles shirts back in the 90s and early 2000s. A partnership that produced one of the nicest designs of the 90s.

Speaking at the launch of the partnership, USA Rugby commercial head honcho David Sternberg was effusive in his praise of Adidas. “We are extremely proud to partner with Adidas and offer our athletes the best athletic apparel possible,” said Sternberg “Adidas is a world-renowned brand that supplies kits to some of the most successful athletes and teams in the world. Adding a partner of their stature is further proof of rugby’s growth in the United States and around the world.”

The USA Women have already worn the famous three stripes during their CanAm Series last weekend, and the men’s Sevens will don Adidas gear for this weekend’s Hong Kong Sevens.

However, due to the timing of this deal, these shirts are basically placeholders that will be worn until the proper designs are revealed ahead of the USA’s test against Ireland in June, available as usual through USA Rugby’s official retailer, World Rugby Shop.
