The Scarlets have announced a new long-term kit sponsorship deal with Macron that the Llanelli-based region claim will “integrate Italian style with the grit of Welsh rugby”.
The five-year deal sees Macron take over from Kooga, and will ensure the Bologna-based firm kits out the Welsh region until the end of the 2021/22 season.
Macron already have a large presence in rugby in the UK – they’ve outfitted Scotland, Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh for a while now, and last year added Northampton Saints to their rapidly growing stable.
Said Ross Cook, Sports Marketing Manager for Macron, “Our designers are thrilled to delve into the depth of the Scarlets’ vast rugby history and have worked tirelessly to make sure that the new collection is something for the players and fans to pull on with pride. Our goal in each collection is to encapsulate the style and feeling of the club while bringing some of our own Italian style to both the field and the terraces. We look forward to welcoming the Scarlets and all at Parc y Scarlets to the Macron family.”
Macron have produced some seriously stylish kits in the last few years – with proper collar no less – so we’re very excited to see what Macron and the Scarlets come up with next season!
Look at the current 2016/17 Neath Rugby shirts for what Macron will offer….nothing special at all and dodgy sizes.
Expect the 2/3/4xl sizes to be in demand down parc y scarlets next year
Comparing the off-the-peg gear available to a semi-pro club with bespoke gear for a top-flight professional team is a bit reductive. Macron’s gear for Scotland, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Northampton is hard not to like
Oh I agree with you entirely the current srfu gear is very smart indeed (bt logo aside). Its just my experience with macron rugby based gear (neath aside) has not been very positive at all…terrible quality, and sizing has been a major issue for years.
I hope they do a tidy job for the scarlets…but lets wait and see!!!
